3v System

Unfortunately I’ve had to sell my 3 vessel brew system. It was just too big and cumbersome to both store, and also to try and drag out on brew on with no dedicated space. But on the plus side I had enough money to buy a Generation 3 Robobrew which will make brew days quicker and mean less cleanup.

The 3 vessel system was essentially built up with 2 x 40 litre sparge urns with 2400-watt elements. The older Catermaster branded urn (my original BIAB urn) was used as the Hot Liquor Tank, while the newer Birko urn was the boil kettle. Both had factory sight glasses and were upgraded with 1/2 inch ball valves and analogue temperature probes.

The mash tun was purchased from The Brewhouse in Wellington and was a 43 litre round cooler and I upgraded this with a recirc port and an SS Brewtech mash recirculation manifold.

I added a 12-volt solar pump (which did an excellent job) and camlocks with silicon hosing for transfer and recirculation.

It was a great system and I’m sad to see it go, but the new owner was really pleased when he picked it up, and I’m sure he will make some great beers with it.
