Woodside Porter

My favourite beer is Emerson’s London Porter, a nice easy drinking Porter somewhere between a Brown Porter and a Robust Porter.  So my goal was to try and somewhat emulate Emerson’s offering without making it a clone.

This beer is a pretty standard looking porter recipe based on Gladfield Ale Malt, with Medium Crystal and Chocolate Malts, and some oats thrown in for body. Hops for bittering at 60 minutes is the only hops this beer will see.  So nothing out of the ordinary happening with this beer, pretty standard English porter.

This flavour of this beer is all about chocolate and roastiness, with a balanced bitterness lingering at the back end. Colourwise it’s a nice dark shade of brown with a tan head, and when held up to the light a nice red hue dances through the beer.
