Woodside Porter v3

The third rebrew of my Woodside Porter Again. Again with Taiheke hops for bittering due to difficulty getting reasonable priced Fuggles.

The last brew of this was slightly disapointing and had a slight off flavour due to a possible infection but nothing serious. This is a lot cleaner but still not as good as the first brew. Therefore next brew will have an equal amount of Light Chocolate and Dark Chocolate to both darken the colour and add more chocolate depth. I’ve secured some East Kent Goldings as well, as while the Taiheke is good its not what I wanted.

Details

Mashed in with 16 litres and was a little dry so added an extra litre of cold water. Not much flow through so pump off and temp sitting at 71 on the robobrew but my thermometer was saying 64 Very slow flow rate during the mash and took ages to clear.

About Dene McDonald

Home brewer just tying to make the best beer I can with limited resources. I'm a sucker for a dark beer, and believe deep down that sours are just beers gone wrong - you can't trick me into drinking off beer.
